Parmesan Orzo

Nothing beats the cheesy texture of the orzo. It's similar to rice, but it's really soft small pieces of pasta.

0.25 teaspoonblack pepper
1 tablespoonbutter/oil
1.25 cupconcentrated chicken broth
2 tablespoonfresh basil
1 cuporzo
0.25 cupparmesan cheese
1.25 cupwater


Directions:

Step 1
Melt the butter/oil in a saucepan. Add orzo and cook 3 minutes.
Step 2
Stir in broth and water, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until liquid is absorbed and orzo is done (approx. 15 minutes)
Step 3
Remove from heat, stir in cheese, basil, and pepper.
 

Variations:

Slized Almonds - Add variation to grocery list

This adds a bit of a nutty flavour.

Add:

1 sprinklesliced almonds

Directions:

Toast the sliced almonds in a toaster oven and then sprinkle them on top of the orzo to serve.
